On January 19th I will depart from Chicago for Quito, Ecuador. I will spend my spring semester completing the Minnesota Studies in International Development (MSID) program, which consists of 1/2 the semester in Quito taking classes and the second 1/2 somewhere else doing an internship of my choice. I am hoping to work on a project related to agricultural cooperative development in a rural area, possibly the Amazon basin. If you want more information about my program, check out the website: MSID Ecuador
The program ends on May 8th, 2009. My return ticket from Quito is on July 27th. The 2.5 months in between are mine to explore, learn, create, dream, think, do, be...
Possibilities for this time include: Visiting Chloe, my awesome roommate of two years, in Chile. Machu Picchu. Exploring development projects I hear about and want to investigate. Checking out school programs that have implemented Transcendental Meditation sponsored by the David Lynch Foundation. Chilling on the beach and thinking about what I want to do with the next few years of my life. Couchsurfing. Rendezvousing with other travelers, friends both old and new. Trekking. Being in nature. Immersing myself in diverse cultures. WWOOFing.
Whatever is meant to happen will happen. That's how I try to live and that is what will guide my few months of freedom in travel.
